TUHH is a modern and dynamic university, striving for international excellence in research and teaching. It provides the ideal conditions for unlocking the knowledge and innovation potential of today’s technological challenges by combining its engineering expertise in the three focal areas of Green Technologies, Life Science Technologies and Aviation and Maritime Systems with cross-cutting research on digitalisation and new materials. As a part of its educational strategy, TUHH is developing new, international degree programmes for tomorrow’s engineers, building on its excellent reputation for innovation in teaching and learning for the engineering sciences.
TUHH’s growth strategy envisages closer collaboration and networking with other scientific institutions in the Hamburg metropolitan region as well as strategic collaboration with industrial partners in application-oriented research.
PROFESSORSHIP W1 WITH TENURE TRACK TO W3 IN THE DOMAIN OF
INTEGRATED METALLIC NANOMATERIALS SYSTEMS
Ref. No. P2103
The School of Mechanical Engineering seeks applications to consolidate its materials science expertise in the field of integrated metallic nanomaterials systems. These materials systems derive their properties from microstructural features at the nanoscale, yet they also offer the prospect of being formed into engineering components at the macroscale. They simultaneously achieve strength and function by exploiting size and interface effects as well as chemo-mechanically coupled phenomena. We are looking for an ambitious young researcher who embraces innovative approaches to the relevant materials design, in particular involving one or more of the following:
- Nanomaterials
- Interfaces
- Chemo-mechanical coupling
- Hybrid materials from hard and soft matter
- Porous metals
We expect that the successful candidate can teach the subject of fundamentals of metallic materials in its full scope. This professorship is funded by the Joint Federal Government-Länder Tenure Track Programme (“Bund-Länder-Programm zur Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses”). The appointment is due to commence in the 2021/22 winter term.
The initial appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of renewal for a further three years after a positive interim evaluation. Following another positive evaluation in the final year, the candidate will be tenured at the professorial level (W3).
TUHH acknowledges exceptional and innovative teaching achievements and capabilities. Successful applicants will therefore contribute to its prominent profile of innovative teaching methods with high-quality undergraduate (B.Sc.) and graduate (M.Sc.) courses. The courses are offered in English and German; a willingness to learn German is expected from non-German speakers. TUHH is an equal opportunity employer and particularly welcomes and encourages applications from women. It is certified as a family-friendly university and supports dual careers. Applications by disabled persons with equal qualifications will be given preference.
The deadline for applications is 29 April 2021.
Applications can be submitted in German or English. Please upload your application (including CV, Ref. No., a list of publications, relevant certificates, overview of research activities and teaching experience) using the link:
