starting 01 October 2020:
Professorship (W1, tenure track) in
Educational Sciences with a focus on Adult
Education and Organizational Research
The initial tenure track appointment as Assistant Professor
(civil servant or public employee) is for six years according to § 64
of the Higher Education Act of the State of Hessen (HHG). This
professorship is funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the
German Federal Government and the Federal States (BLP-TT). Upon
positive evaluation, the incumbent will be promoted to a permanent
position at a higher level (W2).
According to § 64 (3) HHG candidates should not have obtained their
PhD at Goethe University or should have worked as a researcher at
an external institution for at least two years after their PhD. The
doctorate should not date back to more than four years.
The successful applicant should represent educational sciences
in research and teaching, be anchored in adult education and
have a focus on organizational research. The aim is to investigate
institutional and organizational frameworks of professional action
as well as adult learning.
In addition to a very good doctorate in Educational Sciences / Adult
Education, expertise in organizational theory as well as experience
in applying for third-party funds and the implementation of
empirical research projects are necessary requirements. The
participation in institutional and interdisciplinary research initiatives,
interest in international comparative perspectives as well as
references to the main research areas of the department is desirable
(esp. regarding organizational aspects of digitization). You will also
be required to teach both Bachelor's and Master's degree students
as part of the position.
Successful candidates will be required to participate in the academic
