The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF), part of the Leibniz Association, and Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Germany, are seeking to appoint a
Professor of Political Science or Sociology (W1)
with a special focus on Radicalisation and Violence Research – supported by the Johanna Quandt Jubilee Fund
at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The appointment as Professor (civil servant or equivalent salaried) is for six years (§ 64 of the
Higher Education Act of the State of Hessen (HHG)) and subject to a midterm review.
Through very good research, a commitment to teaching and the acquisition of third-party funding, the successful applicant will play an active role in
shaping and developing the research field “Radicalisation and Political Violence” within a collaborative partnership between PRIF and Goethe
University Frankfurt. Teaching load in the first two years is 2 hours of instruction per week and 4 hours per week from the third year onwards.
Applicants will have studied Social Sciences and hold an outstanding doctoral degree. In the area of research, the incumbent is expected to specialise
in peace, conflict, security or violence studies as documented by pertinent and internationally visible publications. It is furthermore assumed that
he/she has an interest in making research results known to the political and broader public. Experience in securing third-party funding is an asset.
If appointed, applicants are obliged to play an active role in academic self-administration at PRIF and the University. PRIF and Goethe University Frankfurt
