Professorship (W 3) for Cardiovascular Systems Biology (f/m/d)

The successful candidate will be assigned to the I. Medical Department of University Medical Center Mannheim. Regarding patient care, long-term practical experience in invasive cardiology is required alongside with the management of the area "Cardiovascular Prevention". Solid practical experience in the therapy of coronary stenosis and structural heart disease is expected in order to further develop the modern care of cardiological patients through scientific projects and clinical studies. In research, she/he should have a distinguished record of qualifications and accomplishments in all areas of cardiovascular systems biology. A particular focus should be on cardioimmunology, especially the study of congenital and acquired immune processes in vessels and myocardium. Moreover, active participation in the main research areas and cross-sectional areas of the faculty, in particular vascular biology and medicine, inflammation medicine, immunology and immunotherapy, and preventive medicine is expected, as well as connectivity to CRC1366 "Vascular Control of Organ Function" as well as CRC1550 “Molecular Circuits of Heart Disease”. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in clinical teaching program in internal medicine within MaReCuM, the restructured modular medical curriculum of the faculty. Prerequisites for application are a completed university degree, a qualified doctorate as well as, according to § 47 (2) the Higher Education Law of the state of Baden-Württemberg, a habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or a comparable scientific qualification as well as board certification internal medicine and cardiology. Internationally visible, excellent performance in research, teaching and patient care, relevant leadership experience, successful acquisition of third-party funding and didactic competence are expected as well as cooperation and leadership skills and commitment to academic self-administration. The position is available permanently. According to § 49 (2a) the Higher Education Law of the state of Baden-Württemberg, professors who are responsible for the care of patients in a university hospital are employed under private law and have tenure immediately. The W 3 professorship for "Cardiovascular Systems Biology" is associated with the clinical management of the area of "Cardiovascular Prevention" at the I. Medical Department of University Medical Center Mannheim. In this regard, a separate contract will be concluded with the Universitätsklinikum Mannheim GmbH.
