The Faculty of Social Sciences of Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invites applications for the
following position as civil servant or public employee starting at the earliest possible date:
Professor of Sociology (W3) with a Special Focus on Sociological Theory and History of Theory
The successful candidate is distinguished by excellent research and teaching competencies in Sociological Theory and the History of Theory,
as shown by internationally visible publications in the current state of sociological theory development and the history of ideas. We expect
the candidate to demonstrate familiarity with critical social theory by having published in this area.
The successful candidate will be open to participating in current and planned research projects at the Faculty of Social Sciences and to
teaching at the Bachelors and Masters level in all the Faculty’s degree programmes. The professorship is also involved in teacher
training; experience and concepts for teaching subject content in schools are welcome. Experience in securing third-party funding is an asset.
Successful candidates will be required to participate actively in the administrative roles expected of professors. The salary for the position is
based on W3 on the German university scale, including performance bonuses that are subject of negotiation. The designated salary for the position
is based on the German university pay scale or equivalent. Goethe University is committed to increasing the proportion of female faculty and therefore
