February 1st 2019 a
Full Professor of Sociology
We seek outstanding academics who have demonstrated academic leadership in theories and methods
of social science in both teaching and research.The successful candidate will have a track record of internationally
recognized high-quality research and teaching experience. Expertise in empirical and qualitative
social research in particular as well as research interests in cultural studies would be an asset as
well. Special interests in the sociology of business and organisation, theories of social change and/or
narratological research would be a decided advantage, as would connections with new theoretical approaches
to action and behaviour.
Openness to interdisciplinary research, teaching and collaboration with the other subject areas of the
SHSS as well as with other core disciplines at the University of St.Gallen would be expected. She or he
will assume responsibility for the Society area of concentration within Contextual Studies.The languages
of instruction are German and English.Applicants must have a Habilitation or an equivalent qualification
(in terms of substantial publications beyond the doctorate).
