The Faculty of Energy and Management Science at the Clausthal
University of Technology invites applications for a
Professorship in Technical Thermodynamics
and Energy Efficient Material Treatment
The position will be available at the Institute of Energy Process
Engineering and Fuel Technology. The remuneration will be
settled on the basis of the Salary Group W3 (German salary
system for civil servants and equivalent positions).
The focus of the professorship is in both teaching Technical
Thermodynamics and teaching & research in the domain of
Energy Efficient Material Treatment (Thermal Energy Systems).
With regard to the development of new products and processes
an interdisciplinary cooperation is foreseen. The successful
candidate will be expected to cooperate with other Institutes of
TU Clausthal working in the fields of process-, mechanical- and
electrical-engineering, metallurgy, as well as material sciences.
Besides concentrating on utilization and optimization of energy
consumption, the research should also focus on environmental
aspects of energy generation and transfer.
The applicants must have an impressive record in at least one of
the following fields: Thermal Energy Systems, High Temperature
Process Engineering, Substitution of Primary Energy, Evaluation
and Comparison Methods for Energy Conversion and Network
Systems, Process Intensification.
According to the Lower Saxony University Regulation § 25 NHG,
applicants must have a university degree, pedagogical aptitude,
and an above-average PhD degree. A good record of scientific
achievements or considerable industrial experience in applying
scientific know-how into industrial practise are essential.
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in both German and

professorship, will be hired as employees (Angestellter) unless
they already have the status of a public servant (Beamter). The
professorship is not suited for a part time employment.
