The Institute of Sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Goethe
University Frankfurt/Main, Germany, invites applications for the
following position starting as soon as possible:
Professorship in Sociology (W1, tenure track)
with a special focus on
Organization and Economy
The initial tenure track appointment as Assistant Professor is for six
years (§ 64 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Hessen (HHG)).
Upon positive evaluation, the incumbent will be promoted to a permanent
position at a higher level (W2).
The successful applicant will have an international reputation in the
field of theoretical and empirical economic sociology and sociology
of organizations. It is expected that he/she is willing to participate
in current and planned research projects at the University and engage
in teaching on a wide scale in all the Faculty’s degree programmes,
in particular the Masters programme in "Economic Sociology
and Sociology of Finance". The ability to connect with the Frankfurt
tradition of critical theory is desirable. The professorship is also involved
According to § 64 HHG persons that obtained their PhD at Goethe
University Frankfurt are not eligible to the position. The doctorate
should not date back to more than four years and should be complemented
by further scientific achievements. The initial designated
salary for the position is based on "W1" on the German university
