as tenured W3 Associate Professor or Full Professor; to begin as soon as possible. The professorship is a joint appointment with the TUM Department of Chemistry and the TUM Department of Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering.
The professorship is associated with the TUM Department of Chemistry and the Department of Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering. Due to an international faculty and Master courses taught in English, the departments attract outstanding students at all levels.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Construction Chemistry with a preferred focus on the development of modern, sustainable construction materials and/or chemical admixtures. The teaching load includes courses in the university's bachelor and master programs of Chemistry and Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering. We expect the candidate to teach fundamentals of General and Inorganic Chemistry, the breadth of Construction Chemistry in its many facets, as well as advanced, applied courses, e.g. with emphasis on applied construction material technologies, and on environmental compatibility of construction materials.
We are looking for a candidate with a university degree in Chemistry and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification. Candidates applying at the Associate Professor level should demonstrate advanced scientific achievements, a proven ability to acquire third party funding, and evidence of their ability to lead cooperative research projects. At the Full Professor level we additionally expect an internationally recognized research program. Successful candidates must show pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English. Substantial research experience abroad is expected and industrial experience welcome.
