Professorship in
“Child and Youth Welfare”
at the Department of Social Work


What to expect:

  • You will teach on our Bachelor and Master’s programmes at the Department of Social Work, preferably on topics in the field of Child and Youth Welfare.
  • Your research will focus on young people, both with and without disabilities, in institutional care.
  • You enjoy applying to interdisciplinary contexts the expertise gained in the course of your practical professional and academic work.
  • You will also contribute to self-government at the department and to the further development of degree programmes, and will be involved in academic continuing education.
  • It is quite natural for you to deliver courses involving digital technology, possibly also in English.

Your background:

  • Your expertise is underpinned by a degree in Social Work or a comparable qualification.
  • You additionally completed your doctorate with above-average success.
  • You are familiar with concepts of child and youth welfare, and have sound organisational knowledge in this field.
  • You are well informed about legal developments in Books VIII, IX and XII of the Social Code (SGB) with regard to young people, and are interested in continuing to follow these developments.
  • We can count on your relevant professional experience in child and youth welfare and/or in support, care and housing services for young people with disabilities.
  • Ideally, you have extensive experience in teaching, and are familiar with applying for external funding and collaborating in research projects.
  • Your portfolio is complemented by a network of partners from the field.
