The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan and will be cross-appointed to the Department of Mechanical
Engineering. The professorship is endowed by the Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Maschinenbaus mbH.
The responsibilities include research, teaching and the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area
of agrimechatronics with a focus on process chains in a networked agriculture by embedding state-of-the-art machines, software, control and
feedback systems as well as electrical drivers (Smart Farming). The professorship will mainly deal with problems related to agricultural
engineering but will also integrate aspects of electrics, electronics, robotics and sensor technology. The successful candidate will establish
an internationally visible research program at the interfaces between agricultural sciences and mechanical engineering as well as digitalisation.
Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs, in particular in the agricultural sciences.
We are looking for a candidate with a university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, who has
demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, regarding the relevant
career level. International scientific experience during the doctoral or postdoctoral phase is expected. The successful candidate shows
pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English.
We expect in particular competencies in research management, leadership and interdisciplinary cooperation as well as a track record in securing
third-party funding relevant to the specific career level. The successful candidate will actively cooperate within the research department and
essentially contribute to strengthening cooperation between the related TUM schools and departments (the School of Life Sciences, the Department
of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering). The successful candidate is requested to engage in
interdisciplinary cooperation and dissemination activities within the Hans-Eisenmann-Centre for agricultural sciences.
