Professorship in “Water Management and Urban Drainage” at the Department of Civil Engineering


What to expect:

  • You will teach the basics and the advanced application of urban drainage, water management in urban areas, as well as the planning, structural implementation and rehabilitation of sewer systems and special structures, including the relevant digital methods (e.g. modelling, GIS) and pipe statics in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes offered by the department.
  • Besides your willingness to further develop teaching and to take on basic subjects, you will also contribute to the cooperative Master’s programme in Water Management run by FH Münster and the University of Münster.
  • Your input is required in application-oriented research within the Institute for Infrastructure · Water · Resources · Environment
  • Last but not least, you will make a constructive contribution to the cooperative atmosphere within the department and get involved in university self-government.

Your background:

  • Your expertise is based on a degree in Civil Engineering or a comparable degree focusing on Water Management, and a recognised doctorate.
  • Several years of professional experience in the planning and structural implementation of sustainable drainage systems, as well as in rainwater management, flood prevention and urban hydrology, complement your background.
  • Ideally, you have in-depth knowledge and practical experience in the areas of sewer construction and rehabilitation, pipe statics, and sewer network management and operation.
  • You have experience teaching in higher education, and are keen to support the university’s internationalisation process by delivering courses in English.
  • You will also be able to deliver courses in German with confidence.
  • Experience in applying for research projects and an extensive network of practice partners round off your profile.
