expected to start in the summer semester 2021 or commencing as soon as possible.
Responsibilities in Teaching and Research:
Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences seeks to appoint a candidate for a professorship, which involves teaching and research on digital methods covering different stages of the food value chain. The focus of the professorship is on digital post harvest and food processing technologies. Within the field of post harvest technologies the focus ranges from on-site transportation to cleaning, sorting and processing of harvest products to storage and preservation. The technology relevant in post harvest technologies (e.g. imaging techniques and NIRS) can be applied along the entire food value chain. Post harvest technology thematically interfaces with food processing and food preparation technologies (e.g. in professional kitchens), some of which already apply digital technologies to a large extent.
We expect the incumbent to make an active contribution to the further development of the Competence Centre for Digital Agriculture (KoDA). Teaching involves modules such as Digital Post Harvesting Technologies, Sensor Technology in the Food Processing Industry as well as Professional Kitchen Technology. We also expect you to carry out research in these fields.
The successful acquisition and management of research projects may be rewarded with a reduction of the teaching load.
The university expects the incumbent to play an active role in the further development of applied research. Responsibilities of the professorship furthermore include the supervision of internship classes, project studies and theses, teaching courses in English language as well as participation in academic self-administration. The ability to teach specialized topics in adjacent fields of research is highly desired. We offer an interesting work environment at the interface of applied research and practical education, which includes the opportunity to further shape and advance the thematic focus of the professorship according to your own ideas.
As a minimum requirement you have completed a university degree in information technology, electrical engineering, mechatronics, food technology, agriculture or in related subjects.
We are looking for a candidate with broad knowledge and a high level of interdisciplinary competence who has very good knowledge in data processing and management. In addition, you have a good knowledge of one or several programming languages and have gained competencies in sensor technology as well as in the field of wired and wireless data transmission. We expect the successful applicant to have basic knowledge of process control, process simulation and in the application of ERP systems. The incumbent should have practical experience and theoretical knowledge on handling agricultural and horticultural raw materials and food.
Furthermore, you are willing to take responsibility and ideally have already gained experience in an executive position or as a project manager. In order to advance the further establishment of the KoDA on our campus locations in Triesdorf and Weihenstephan, we are looking for a flexible person with strong cooperation skills. The university explicitly welcomes and supports activities in relation to the acquisition of third-party funding.
