UNIVERSITY OF BATH
Professor - Department of Mathematical Sciences
Building on our current strength in research and teaching, we are looking for three world-leading and ambitious scholars to join the Department of Mathematical Sciences to help further strengthen our dynamic research groups in Mathematical Analysis, Statistics and Mathematical Biology. Applicants must have a strong research vision and a track-record of engagement within their Department and across their wider research community.
The successful candidates will join a vibrant and expanding Department which currently has over 70 staff across all of the Mathematical Sciences. The Department has a culture of strong interaction between pure and applied research and between mathematics and statistics. It hosts a wide variety of cross-disciplinary centres, such as the Centre for Mathematical Biology, the Probability Laboratory (Prob-L@B) and the Centre for Networks and Collective Behaviour, and has strong industrial collaborations. These activities are supported by the Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics at Bath (SAMBa) which has an annual intake of 10-15 research students and by the Bath Institute for Mathematical Innovation, which promotes cross-campus research activities and international collaborations and helps businesses solve complex mathematical and statistical problems. The superb location of the UNESCO-designated World Heritage City of Bath offers outstanding facilities and an excellent quality of life.
The University of Bath is an equal opportunities employer and has an excellent international reputation with staff from over 60 different nations. To achieve our global aspirations, we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Applications from all groups currently under-represented in academic posts are particularly encouraged. We are working to improve the present gender balance within the Department, and particularly welcome applications from women. Both the Department and the University are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment. Flexible working options will be considered wherever possible.
