Established in 2013, Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences (KL) is part of a wider academic and research community based at Campus Krems, and of a network comprising teaching hospitals in St. Pölten, Krems, Tulln and Eggenburg. The university offers degree programmes in Human Medicine and Psychology – all of which are significant aspects of health policy. The programmes are tailored to the requirements of the Bologna model, opening the door to new, cutting-edge health professions. The university is looking to fill the following professorship at the earliest possible opportunity:
Biostatistics and Data Science
The university invites applications for a temporary position (endowed chair) connected with the establishment of the Biostatistics & Data Science unit. The successful applicant will have a professional track record that qualifies him/her to head up teaching and research activities in this field, and to establish the unit within KL's clinical focus and as part of the university's teaching activities, in accordance with organisational and didactic requirements. In line with KL's strategic position in the field of health science, the successful applicant must have experience of research into statistical methods and their application in clinical trials as well as in medical and psychological research initiatives. Applicants will also be willing and able to give courses at all levels of the curriculum (bachelor, master and PhD), supervise students' theses and papers, and support up-and-coming academics. The professor will also be responsible for establishing and managing decentralised consultation services at KL's university hospitals, and representing the unit on related committees (e.g. ethics committees, etc.).
The criteria for selection are:
Degree in statistics or a related subject
PhD or equivalent professional qualification
Outstanding teaching experience and publication record
Proven track record in a related position
Strong record in international research
Management experience and leadership skills
Skills in gender mainstreaming
