Professorships within the field of Accounting
The Department of Business and Economics, University of Southern Denmark, Odense and the Department of
Entrepreneurship and Relationship Management, University of Southern Denmark, Kolding invite applications
for vacant Professorships within the field of Accounting. Applications are invited from candidates in the
areas of financial accounting, management accounting, or auditing, irrespective of research paradigm or methodology.
The Faculty of Business and Social Sciences at SDU conducts research within Business (including accounting and auditing),
Economics, Political Science and Law. The accounting research group is responsible for all undergraduate and graduate
accounting courses at the five campuses of the University of Southern Denmark. The accounting field is organized in a
research group, which is located in Kolding and in Odense.
It is the aim of the Faculty to carry out research of high international standards, documented through publications in
internationally-recognized journals and through presentations at international conferences. The Faculty provides a supportive
research environment, and research facilities, travel support, etc. are generally very good and comparable to other European universities.
Successful applicants have a Ph.D. in accounting or related fields; evidence of a strong and ongoing record of high-quality research
publications in internationally-recognized academic journals; proven experience in academic leadership and/or a successful record
of research funding; a strong record of appropriate experience in academic teaching and supervision, including experience in
supervising doctoral students; a record of good teaching skills. Relevant professional experience and professional qualifications
can be taken into account.
Successful applicants are expected to (a) undertake high-quality teaching at the undergraduate, graduate and/or doctoral levels;
(b) supervise undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students; (c) conduct high-quality research that leads to publications in
internationally-recognized academic journals; (d) provide leadership to program and curriculum development; (e) provide leadership
that will strengthen the Accounting & Auditing group’s quality and relevance in research and teaching; (f) maintain and develop
relationships with appropriate stakeholders; (g) perform academic, knowledge dissemination and administrative tasks. The teaching
and research language at the Faculty is English and Danish.

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

Applicants applying for a professorship are requested to submit a teaching portfolio with the application as documentation for

Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee and the committee will assess whether you are qualified to be a Professor.
The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.
When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her.
The assessment report will subsequently be forwarded to the Head of Deparments who will assemble an appointments committee. The
appointments committee will manage and complete the job interviews, should such be conducted. Additionally, the appointments
committee determines which candidate will be offered the position.
Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above requirements will not be assessed by the committee.
