Tenured Professorship in Sociology with a focus on macrosociology

The successful applicant will cover the area named above in research and teaching. The professorship is the central position within the institute of Sociology and has a research focus on comparative sociology and culture with respect to Europe.
Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).
The successful candidate will have acquired their PhD or additional academic achievements in sociology and have a research focus on societal and cultural comparison with regard to Europe. Applicants are required to have very good methodological skills in quantitative social science research and experience in university teaching in an international environment. We are looking for a candidate with distinguished research activities, proven by peer-reviewed publications in renowned journals and the acquisition of third-party funded research projects. Additionally, applicants are required to have very good German and English language skills.
Apart from the official duties in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:
The appointee is expected to teach in the study programs offered by the institute of sociology (most of the courses are taught in English). We expect our new colleague to engage in
tasks of leadership at the institute of sociology as well as in the study programs offered by the institute. The appointee will engage in both the development of new joint research
projects and participating in ongoing projects the institute of sociology in, e.g. the Cluster of Excellence "Contestations of the Liberal Script (SCRIPTS)" and the SFB 1171
"Affective Societies: Dynamics of Social Coexistence in Mobile Worlds". Further, she or he is expected to expand the institute's collaboration with other central institutes of
Freie Universität Berlin, extramural research institutions as well as with national and international partner universities. Additionally, the appointee is expected to also address
gender and diversity issues relevant to the field.

Furthermore, please include information on involvement in ongoing and future research endeavours, joint research projects and externally funded projects, and if necessary language certificates. If applicable for the respective content area, please give information on industrial cooperation, inventions/patents and spin-offs.
