of Paderborn University, the following position is to be filled as soon as possible:
Professor – W3 (f/m/d) in Knowledge Representation
The Department of Computer Science focuses on three strategic research directions: security, data science, and domain-specific computing. To further strengthen the area of data science, we are looking for an outstanding personality with expertise in the field of knowledge representation proven by publications at international venues in relevant high-ranking bodies. The research focus should be on areas including but not limited to knowledge representation for web-scale systems, reasoning with inconsistent data and approximate reasoning.
Experience in acquiring competitive third-party funding and the willingness to participate in the institute's grant applications are mandatory for a successful application. We expect the willingness to participate in applications for (interdisciplinary) large-scale projects (e.g., Collaborative Research Centers), to actively help shape new projects, and to get involved in existing research institutions such as the Joint Artificial Intelligence Institute (JAII) or the Software Innovation Campus Paderborn (SICP). The tasks linked to the professorship also include teaching and research on knowledge representation at the Institute for Computer Science. The willingness to work in academic self-administration and digital teaching is required. The ability to teach in German and English is expected no later than two years after hire.
