Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invites applications for the position of

Professor (W2, with tenure track) of
Clinical Psychology of Ageing

in the Institute of Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology and Sports Sciences. This civil servant or public employee position will start as soon as possible.
This is a tenure-track position for an initial six-year term. If tenure is approved at the end of the term, the position will be made permanent and promotion to the rank of Distinguished Professor (W3) will be granted.
With the establishment of its new Master of Science in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, the Department of Psychology plans to establish a new research and teaching focus in “Mental Health and Translational Clinical Psychology”. To support this, three professors will be newly appointed, so that this focus area will consist of four professors in the future. In our ageing society, there is an increasing demand for psychotherapeutic services tailored towards the needs of older adults. To meet this demand, we seek to appoint a professor with a clinical focus and research profile on the clinical psychology of ageing. Together with the neighboring professors in clinical psychology, the Professor of Clinical Psychology of Ageing will be responsible for teaching the entire field of clinical psychology and psychotherapy in the Bachelor and Master programs, thereby guaranteeing that the plurality of psychotherapeutic intervention methods will be represented. At the same time, active involvement in the development of psychotherapy training and a contribution to strengthening the Department’s new research profile in mental health and translational clinical psychology are expected.
Successful candidates should be distinguished by an excellent and internationally visible research profile in clinical psychology, with a focus on the specific challenges of clinical psychology with older adults. Experience with the acquisition of competitive external research funding is expected. The future professor will be involved in the implementation and further development of the new M.Sc. program in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy and in developing a postgraduate training program for psychotherapy. For this reason, a German license as psychological psychotherapist (Approbation) with specialization in at least one of the four psychotherapeutic intervention methods accepted in Germany is expected. Participation in academic self-governance is required.
The Department of Psychology embraces the values of open science and strives for transparent, open, and reproducible research. The Department of Psychology also aims at ensuring the plurality of psychotherapeutic intervention methods in research and teaching.
Applicants are asked to describe in what ways they already pursued and plan to pursue these goals. International applicants have to obtain the German license to practice as psychological psychotherapist (Approbation) within 3 years after starting their position (cf. § 11 and § 12 of the Gesetz zur Reform der Psychotherapeutenausbildung).
The formal hiring requirements are defined in sections 67, 68, and 70 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
Goethe University is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion. In particular, we are welcoming applications by qualified women and people with a migrant background. At Goethe University, a special emphasis is placed on creating and sustaining a family-friendly work and research environment. Where applicants are otherwise equally qualified, preference is given to candidates with disabilities or equivalent. The same applies to women in fields in which they are under-represented.
To apply, please send a CV, a list of publications, an overview of your research and teaching activities, an overview of third-party funding you have obtained as well as the documentation of the above-specified clinical-psychotherapeutic skills and licenses as well as transcripts and course evaluations as a single PDF document by 30 June 2022 to Prof. Dr. Sonja Rohrmann, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Sports Sciences of the Goethe University Frankfurt, Theodor-W.-Adorno-Platz 6, 60323 Frankfurt am Main, Germany, e-mail: dekanat.fb05@em.uni-frankfurt.de. If you have any questions regarding the position, please contact Dean Prof. Dr. Rohrmann.
