Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invites applications for the position of
Professor (W2) of education with a focus on elementary education and science education
Institute of Elementary and Primary Education at the Faculty of Educational Sciences. This civil servant or public employee position will start 01.10.2024.
The successful candidate represents the subject of educational science with a focus on elementary school pedagogy and science education (GER: Sachunterricht) in its entire breadth in research and teaching. He or she is a researcher of outstanding expertise in the empirical and theoretical field of elementary school pedagogy and science education including evidence of the successful acquisition of external funding. We expect the willingness to participate in research projects at the Institute for Elementary and Primary Education as well as for qualitative and/or quantitative research in the domains of education for sustainable development, and/or digitalization or related to inclusive education. The Institute for Elementary and Primary Education offers courses in teacher education programs, in particular the elementary school teacher education program (L 1), and in the Bachelor's/Master's degree programs in educational science. The future position holder is expected to offer classes in the elective module of science education of the L1 teacher education program, as well as in educational sciences and the Bachelor and Master programs in educational science. In the area of science education, collaboration with other subject didactics involved is expected.
Applicants are required to have acquired an outstanding doctorate as well as a habilitation or a habilitation-equivalent achievement in educational science or related disciplines. We further encourage the collaboration with the Center for Diversity and Instructional Development at the Department of Education.
Because the professorship is involved in teacher training, candidates are required to have specific experience in this area and should be willing to participate in interdisciplinary initiatives in the field of empirical educational research.
