degree programs in the field of engineering. The department is divided into three
multifaceted teaching tracks – electrical engineering, computer science and mechanical engineering – and is characterized by forward-looking, application-oriented and increasingly interdisciplinary teaching and research as well as a strong international network.

Artificial Intelligence in Communication Networks

The holder of the position will be in charge of the specialist field of Artificial Intelligence in Communication Networks in the study program of Electrical Engineering. We require at least three years of hands-on experience in the industrial sector (or equivalent) in the following areas: AI methods, mobile networks, network management, and software development. The candidate must exhibit a commitment to application-oriented research in the field of communication networks. It is expected that the successful candidate participates in teaching courses on the foundations of programming, in the fields mentioned above as well as other courses. Proficiency in teaching in the German language and the English language is compulsory.
Candidates must hold a university degree related to the subject, a Ph.D., and excellent teaching skills.

In addition to being assigned to the aforementioned faculty, the post holder will become a member of one or both of the following interdisciplinary organisational units, in which it is expected that they make a professional contribution as a member of the professorship: School of Personal Development and Education (ScoPE), which deals with the personal development of students and the specific didactics of a university of applied sciences, and/or the HoST, which strengthens interdisciplinary research as a research transfer center. We expect our professors to:

• Be active members of our institution and to continuously support the students.
• Participate in introductory courses, i.e., teach subjects at an introductory level in all the faculty’s degrees.
• Have a predisposition and inclination to research and secure third-party funding.
• Show gender and diversity competence.
• Participate in the institution’s international activities, including teaching in English.
• Participate in the interdisciplinary Studium generale.
• Contribute to the institution’s offer regarding further education, lifelong learning and e-learning.
• Take on responsibility regarding academic self-administration.
• Be willing to pursue further training and professional development in their field of expertise and in higher education didactics.
• Cooperate with other educational institutions in the region.
• Show commitment and initiative as expected from a performance-related position.

This is a permanent position. The first appointment as a professor is as a public-service employee on probation or with an unlimited employment contract with a 3-year long probation period.
