The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Tübingen invites applications for a position as a
Professor (W 3) of Latin Philology with a focus on Late Antiquity
With a starting date as soon as possible.
The future holder of the position should represent Latin literature and culture in research and teaching, with a strong evidenced focus on late antiquity and its reception; a particular research focus is expected in the area of Christian late antiquity, especially relating to early Christian anti-heretical didactic poetry, as well as to Augustine and his reception; the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate established and successful academic collaborations with theology and patristics in previous research. Another established research focus in pre-late antique Latin literature, especially in the Early Imperial period, would be an advantage. Furthermore, a strong track record of successful external grant capture relating to large international and interdisciplinary research projects, as well as broad international networks and international experience in academic management and leadership are expected from the successful candidate.
Required qualifications include a
habilitation or equivalent scholarly postdoctoral achievements, internationally regarded publications, and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
The University of Tübingen is particularly interested in increasing the number of women in research and teaching and therefore strongly encourages women to apply. In line with its internationalization agenda, the university welcomes applications from researchers outside Germany.
Applications from equally qualified candidates with disabilities will be given preference.
