Friedensau Adventist University (Theologische Hochschule Friedensau / ThHF) is a
state-recognized institution of higher learning of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a School of Theology and a School of Social Sciences.
The applicant is required to cover the entire field of Old Testament in the Bachelor's and Master's programs of the school. Main areas are Introduction to Old Testament, Exegesis, Old Testament Theology, and the History of Israel and the Ancient Near East as well as Hebrew. We also expect knowledge and experience in biblical archaeology. Lectures are to be held both in German and in English; a C1 level or equivalent in both languages is required.
The profile of the position requires a definite interest in research; experience in acquiring exterior funding is an asset. We also expect involvement in academic administration and in managing and further developing degree programs. Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation is expected.
The requirements for employment are set out in § 35 (1) and (2), no. 1–4a and (3) (for the full professorship) and § 40 Hochschulgesetz des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt (for the tenure track position). In addition, the candidate should be a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and should have several years of pastoral experience.
It is expected that full-time teaching staff take their residence in the area around Friedensau.
Remuneration is according to the financial guidelines of the university
