Faculty 4: Health and Social Work

The Faculty of Health and Social Work at Frankfurt UAS is one of the largest of its field in Germany. It represents the entire breadth and depth of social work from the bachelor to the doctorate level, and has been a forerunner in bringing the health professions into the academic realm. Social responsibility and interdisciplinary work are key facets to all of our related projects and are just as important to us as the close link between science and practice.

We are looking to fill the following position in Faculty 4: Health and Social Work

Beginning latest in summer semester 2023.

Developmental Psychology with a focus on evidence-based developmental diagnostics

The job applicant is expected to
• offer teaching in the undergraduate courses of the teaching unit 'Social Work',,
• teach the relevant fundamentals of the field of developmental psychology,
• be involved in the interdisciplinary practice focus 'Education and Upbringing' and in the research-oriented Children's House of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.

In addition, we expect all teachers in the teaching unit 'Social Work' to have familiarity with the cross-cutting themes of social work, such as such as disability, gender, interculturality, age or sexual orientation, etc.

Your professional profile:
• Qualified doctorate, preferably with reference to social work topics as well as
• Documentation of at least five years of professional practice, including three years
outside of academia, preferably in the area of developmental diagnostics with
application references to social work.

Job requirements:
In addition to being assigned to the aforementioned faculty, the post holder will become a member of one or both of the following interdisciplinary organisational units, in which it is expected that they make a professional contribution as a member of the professorship: School of Personal Development and Education (ScoPE), which deals with the personal development of students and the specific didactics of a university of applied sciences, and/or the HoST, which strengthens interdisciplinary research as a research transfer center.

We expect our professors to:
• Be active members of our institution and to continuously support the students.
• Participate in introductory courses, i.e., teach subjects at an introductory level in all the faculty’s degrees.
• Have a predisposition and inclination to research and secure third-party funding.
• Show gender and diversity competence.
• Participate in the institution’s international activities, including teaching in English.
• Participate in the interdisciplinary Studium generale.
• Contribute to the institution’s offer regarding further education, lifelong learning and e-learning.
• Take on responsibility regarding academic self-administration.
• Be willing to pursue further training and professional development in their field of expertise and in higher education didactics.
• Cooperate with other educational institutions in the region.
• Show commitment and initiative as expected from a performance-related position.

This is a permanent position. The first appointment as a professor is as a public-service employee on probation or with an unlimited employment contract with a 3-year long probation period.
