The Faculty of Health and Social Work at Frankfurt UAS is one of the largest of its field in Germany. It represents the entire breadth and depth of social work from the bachelor to the doctorate level, and has been a forerunner in bringing the health professions into the academic realm. Social responsibility and interdisciplinary work are key facets to all of our related projects and are just as important to us as the close link between science and practice.

Job description:
The professorship is assigned primarily to the BA ‘Social Work’ (and here to the organisational unit ‘Personality and Society’). It is expected to represent – in teaching and research – the subject area Education and Socialisation under Conditions of Social Inequality in the teaching unit ‘Social Work’, particularly in the BA ‘Social Work’. Continuous teaching in the basic modules Social Work and in the focus and advanced modules in the BA ‘Social Work’ is envisioned. Active participation in one of the research areas of the Department of Social Work and Health is desired.
Your professional profile:
You are a highly qualified personality with outstanding scientific and practical knowledge in the field of education and socialisation under conditions of social inequality. You have an relevant doctorate and well-founded interdisciplinary knowledge of pedagogical and socialization-theoretical basics, including your home discipline in the field of social and educational sciences. You have empirical experience with research projects in the area of social inequalities and discrimination. Ideally, they represent the fields of education and socialization over the entire lifespan (early childhood, extracurricular and school-related education and adult education). The future job holder is expected to publish in relevant journals at a high level, both in terms of scope and scientific standards, and to work on scientific projects, respectively. Intercultural competence is expected in teaching, which recognizes diversity and difference as an enrichment and aims for social participation, inclusion and participation of disadvantaged social groups.
Job requirements:
In addition to being assigned to the aforementioned faculty, the post holder will become a member of one or both of the following interdisciplinary organisational units, in which it is expected that they make a professional contribution as a member of the professorship: School of Personal Development and Education (ScoPE), which deals with the personal development of students and the specific didactics of a university of applied sciences, and/or the HoST, which strengthens interdisciplinary research as a research transfer center.
We expect our professors to:
  • Be active members of our institution and to continuously support the students.
  • Participate in introductory courses, i.e., teach subjects at an introductory level in all the faculty’s degrees.
  • Have a predisposition and inclination to research and secure third-party funding.
  • Show gender and diversity competence.
  • Participate in the institution’s international activities, including teaching in English.
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary Studium generale.
  • Contribute to the institution’s offer regarding further education, lifelong learning and e-learning.
  • Take on responsibility regarding academic self-administration.
  • Be willing to pursue further training and professional development in their field of expertise and in higher education didactics.
  • Cooperate with other educational institutions in the region.
  • Show commitment and initiative as expected from a performance-related position.
This is a permanent position. The first appointment as a professor is as a public-service employee on probation or with an unlimited employment contract with a 3-year long probation period.
