“Dance as research practice in social fields”

Using the medium of dance, you will develop and teach artistic research approaches to cultural project work in social work fields at the interfaces to performance, theater, visual arts, video and music. You realize interdisciplinary and project-oriented work in cooperation with non-university social and artistic institutions in Frankfurt and beyond. You will conduct artistic research projects in the field of tension between dance, cultural education and social work and supervise final theses. You work cooperatively with a multimedia-oriented BA and MA teaching and research team and jointly coordinate events. You will participate in academic self-governance and development of degree programs.
As the incumbent, you will teach in the department's degree programs that match your profile. In addition, we require knowledge of and experience with applied methods of action in social work as well as theory-practice transfer.
You have completed a university degree in the artistic/pedagogical field with a focus on dance or a comparable degree with excellent results.
As a proven artistic personality, you can communicate social work in theory and practice through the access of dance and choreography. You bring a (cultural) pedagogical qualification and relevant experience in the development and implementation of your own cultural-pedagogical projects from the fields of dance and choreography in cooperation with social institutions. Knowledge of current subject-specific discourses on the theory and practice of dance and choreography in social fields, artistic research, performativity theory, aesthetic-cultural education and dance pedagogy is required. A broad contemporary dance concept that is open to different dance cultures and subcultural forms is desirable.
Experience in supervising student projects in social fields is a prerequisite. Experience in their scientific supervision is also desirable. You work cooperatively in a team and promote creative processes and decisions. You are well connected in the art and culture scene. You have a very good command of German and English.
Evidence of at least 5 years of professional practice, including 3 years outside academia is required. Please apply with a teaching and research concept. Experience in third-party funding acquisition is desired.
The position is available for an unlimited period of time. When first appointed to a professorship, employment is initially on a probationary civil service basis or on a permanent employment basis with a three-year probationary period.
