The successful candidate will become a member of the Hertie School's
Educational Governance Team and work with Prof. Dr. Lukas Graf, Assistant Professor of Educational Governance. In particular, you will have the opportunity to
Independently advance your research profile in the policy field of education;
Develop a proposal for a third party funded research project;
Contribute to the activities of the Educational Governance Team.
Your profile:
PhD in educational science, political science or sociology (or close to finishing)
Motivation to study current governance challenges to education systems such as those posed by social inequality, the knowledge society, digital learning, migration, privatization, Europeanization or globalization
Interest in analysing interactions between stakeholders in education systems and the interplay between contemporary developments in the governance of education systems and labour markets
Profound knowledge of one or more of the following research fields: comparative education, political economy of skill formation, sociology of education, public or social policy, institutionalism or organizational theory
Advanced methodological training, including qualitative and/or quantitative social science methods
Motivation to contribute to research, teaching and outreach activities in the field of educational governance at all levels of education and training
High degree of initiative, active team player and collaborative researcher
A a solid publication track record and prior experience in teaching are assets
Very good command of English, both spoken and written; good command of German is a plus
