Postdoctoral Position (m/f/d)
in Computational Mechanics
code no. 2019/WM 1
The place of employment is Geesthacht, Germany. The Institute of Materials Research of Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht is offering a 2-years postdoctoral position (m/f/d) in the area of computational mechanics. A primary objective of the position will be the development of a novel multi-physics simulation framework for sintering of magnesium. Sintering of magnesium is used at Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht to manufacture novel biodegradable implants for biomedical engineering. By means of computer simulations, we aim at a significant acceleration of the development of tailor-made magnesium alloys for biomedical engineering. The focus of this position lies on computational modelling. However, we offer an environment where new computational methods can be developed and tested in close collaboration with in-house experimentalists.
development of a computational multi-physics model of sintering of magnesium
implementation of the developed multi-physics model in an in-house simulation code in C++
validation of your results in collaboration with in-house experimentalists
publication and presentation of your scientific results in international scientific journals and at international conferences and workshops
master‘s and PhD degree in computational mechanics, mechanical engineering or similar area
excellent knowledge of computational modelling, in particular of computational mechanics
very good programming skills in C++
proven experience in code development (coding skills will be checked during the job interview!)
very good knowledge of the theoretical foundations of engineering (mechanics, thermodynamics, applied mathematics etc.)
