Postdoctoral Fellow (f/m) in Bioinformatics
Published(377 days ago)
University Hospital HeidelbergHeidelberg
The University Hospital Heidelberg is one of the major healthcare centers in Germany. Our objective is the development of innovative diagnostics and therapies as well as their quick implementation for the patient. With about 10,000 employees in more than 50 specialized clinical departments with roughly 1,900 beds, about 66,000 patients in part-time and full-time inpatient treatment as well as 1,000,000 patients in ambulant treatment are medicated each year.
Postdoctoral Fellow in Bioinformatics (m/f)
at the Department of Medicine V (Hematology, Oncology, Rheumatology), Multiple Myeloma Division (Prof. Dr. med. Hartmut Goldschmidt).
The position is initially limited to 2 years but can be extended.
We are currently building an interdisciplinary team between the University Hospital Heidelberg and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) for analyzing the treatment response of patients with multiple myeloma, a specific type of blood cancer, by a variety of deep sequencing readouts within a new clinical study. For the analysis of the single cell sequencing data (RNA and accessible chromatin) we are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to conduct bioinformatic analyses in tight interaction with the lab-based scientists. The work will include standard sequencing data analysis methods as well as machine learning based approaches. The goal is it to develop models that rationalize patient treatment response and identify predictive markers of the cancer pathophenotype. We are looking for someone with strong computational skills and capable to handle large scale data sets who wants to work in an interdisciplinary team and is willing to learn what is needed on the biomedical side. Prior experience with high-throughput sequencing data is a plus but not required. The fellow will have the possibility to shape the development of theoretical method and models for the analysis of single cell sequencing data from patients with blood cancers in the context of a tightly interacting group of clinicians, basic researchers and theoreticians.
