Description:
The Junior Clinical Cooperation Unit "Translational Surgical Oncology" investigates molecular mechanisms of metastasis in solid tumors of gastrointestinal and thoracic origin. Special emphasis is put on circulating and disseminated cancer cells and innovative preclinical models of solid malignancies. The group is part of the DKFZ and located at the Mannheim Medical Campus (University of Heidelberg). Our laboratory is a state-of-the-art molecular research lab and provides a comprehensive technical infrastructure. The position is supported by technical assistants and includes the supervision of PhD and MD students. Numerous opportunities to cooperate with other strong groups within the DKFZ, on the Mannheim/Heidelberg Campus, nationwide and worldwide are available.
Your profile:
We are looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented individual with strong interest and expertise in the field of molecular oncology and a well-founded biological background. Experience in standard laboratory techniques such as cell culture, FACS, PCR and next-generation sequencing is a prerequisite. Experience in animal models of intestinal tumors would be of definitive advantage. Documented skills in scientific publication are a prerequisite. The position includes responsibility in organization and strategic orientation of the group.
You should also fulfil the following requirements:
- PhD degree in the field of life sciences
- Extraordinary intrinsic and curiosity-driven motivation for research
- Understanding of the biology of human solid tumors and their mechanisms of dissemination
- Excellent proficiency in English
