Postdoc / Research Associate (f/m/d) for the administration of the Department of Geography

The administration of the Department of Geography is looking to fill the following position as soon as possible:
Postdoc / Research Associate, 80 % full-time equivalent (FTE) (50 % FTE on a permanent basis + 30 % FTE time-limited to two years)
The Department of Geography has more than 200 employees in total. Its 13 professors are supported by the Department’s administration. The position forms part of the administration and will primarily support activities in the field of geomatics.
(50 % FTE permanent):
Coordinating the projects and research activities of the Interdisciplinary Center of Remote Sensing of Land Surfaces, including handling and managing projects
Managing research data for the Department of Geography in cooperation with the USL Research Data Service Center and advising academic work groups
Teaching courses (four course units per week per semester) in quantitative methods training, particularly GIS, in German and English and supervising final theses
(30 % FTE time-limited):
A project involving searching relevant literature to identify gaps in the research into remote-sensing applications using multi-sensor data flows. The findings are to be published in a peer-reviewed journal.
University degree in the field of geography/GIS/remote sensing and relevant doctorate in geography or related subjects,
practical experience in preparing, coordinating and leading research projects (e.g. Horizon or German Research Foundation projects) and/or industry activities (e.g. European Space Agency tenders),
experience in teaching students methodology that combines remote sensing, GIS and statistics,
experience in research data management and a very good knowledge of state-of-the-art digital infrastructures,
knowledge of and experience in project administration and management plus, ideally, some SAP experience,
confident and service-oriented team player,
motivated, flexible personality and good social skills,
very good command of German and English.
