Postdoc Position (Microbiology)
starting from January for three years initially.
The successful candidate will work within the framework of a DFG-funded joint French-German research project on the structural
organization of the initial infectious morphotype, the spore (conidium), of the human pathogenic fungus Aspergillus fumigatus.
Main topics of the project may include:
Deciphering the macromolecular organization of the Aspergillus fumigatus conidial cell wall by proteomic methods
Construction and characterization of multiple gene-knockout mutants of A. fumigatus
Studying the interaction of cell wall components and cell wall mutants with macrophages
Testing of selected A. fumigatus mutants in a murine infection model for invasive aspergillosis
Our requirements: PhD in natural sciences/life sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Molecular Biology). Good
knowledge in standard techniques of microbiology, immunology, biochemistry and molecular biology are expected. Experience in
proteomics or mycology would be preferable. We would welcome a highly motivated co-worker with excellent communications skills
and the ability to work on an cooperative project.
