product-based antibiotics. The Department of Biomolecular Chemistry encourages talented and highly gifted candidates to apply for a
Postdoc position (Medicinal Chemistry)
starting from May for 24 months initially.
The successful candidate will work within the framework of a research project funded by the Leibniz Association on drug discovery with novel antibiotic concepts.
Main topics of the project will include:
Organic synthesis involving natural products
Development of site specific coupling strategies for small molecules
Isolation and purification of high quality compounds
Analysis of structure-activity-relationships
State of the art physicochemical characterization
Pharmacological profiling (interpretation of in vitro data & bioactivity)
Our requirements: You hold a PhD in organic or natural product chemistry and have profound expertise in modern and classical
synthetic methods as well as modern analytical chemistry (NMR, MS, HPLC). Knowledge in the synthesis and design of conjugates
involving bioactive compounds is highly beneficial. Experience in the isolation and purification of trace components, particularly
polar substances would be highly appreciated. Basics in pharmacology and the interpretation of biological activities are a further
plus. We would like to welcome a highly motivated co-worker with excellent communication skills and the ability to work on an
interdisciplinary and translational project.
