The Max-Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt, Germany, investigates the attentional, cognitive, and affective mechanisms of aesthetic perception and evaluation.
The Institute currently offers a
in the Max Planck Research Group "Neural and Environmental Rhythms" (PI: Molly J. Henry).
This position is part of a research project funded by the European Research Council (BRAINSYNC).
The postdoc will work on projects seeking to understand how our experience of the auditory world (speech, music, etc.) arises from the interaction between neural
rhythms and the rhythms of sounds. The projects will make use of psychophysics, magneto- and/or electroencephalography (M/EEG), and noninvasive brain stimulation.
The successful applicant holds a PhD in a relevant discipline, e.g., psychology, hearing science, neuroscience, physiology, engineering, computer science, etc. and possesses the following skills and experience:
Excellent quantitative and computer skills, e.g., programming in Matlab or Python
Critical thinking and eagerness to learn new techniques, tools and methods
Excellent spoken and written English and scientific communication skills
The position is for a period of two years, with extension possibleThe anticipated starting date is April 2019. Salaries are determined following the salary scale E 13 (German TVÖD/Bund*); substantial social benefits come on top of the salary.
