The German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW) is a non-university research institute based in Hannover with an outpost in Berlin and funded by the federal government and the 16 German Länder. With about 300 employees, the DZHW is a national and international centre of excellence for higher education and science research. Its research departments engage in knowledge-oriented as well as problem-oriented research on current and long-term developments on all levels of the higher education and science system.
For our headquarter in Hannover, we advertise
1 POSTDOC POSITION (f/m/d; 100%)
for the research area Continuing Higher Education
in the research department "Governance in Higher Education and Science"
to be filled at the earliest possible date.
For the time being, this position is limited to a three year fixed-term contract. Scientific further qualification as well as individual research and publication activities
are integral parts of the job profile and will be assertively supported by the DZHW.
You have graduated with an excellent degree in a discipline relevant to higher education research (e.g. sociology, economics, educational or political sciences).
Furthermore, you have completed your doctorate with outstanding success. In your research, you focus on continuing higher education or adjacent subject areas (e.g.
postgraduate studies and labor market, educational economics, permeability between higher education and vocational training, lifelong learning), employing quantitative
and/or qualitative methods. Knowledge about organizational and governance-related research on higher education is desirable. You take pleasure in developing new, innovative
topics in your field of research and possess exceptional theoretical knowledge and methodological skills. You have published in high-profile international journals. In addition,
you appreciate working with larger teams and research contexts as well as cooperating with junior researchers. You show a proficient command of the English language and are
experienced in obtaining third-party funding.
Holding a multifaceted position, you will conceive new lines of research and actively shape future developments for your research area in close interaction with the head of department.
Your own scientific advancement as well as your research and publication activities will contribute to the development of the research profile of DZHW and, at the same time, enhance your own scientific profile.
