The investigation of radiation-induced brain injury is one focus of our group “Translational Radiation Oncology” led by Prof. Mechthild Krause. The use of the experimental beam line at University Proton Therapy Dresden and an interdisciplinary research team are excellent prerequisites for this clinically relevant research. We are working at the interface of medicine, biology and physics using innovative bioinformatics and image analyses methods. For this purpose, we rely on an established network of vivid collaborations on our campus, e.g. with specialists for image analyses methods, modeling and machine learning approaches.
We search for a highly motivated postdoc to join our team. The successful candidate will work on:
Highly relevant translational research questions within an interdisciplinary team of biologists, physicians and physicists
Curation and analyses of MALDI-imaging data in combination with associated histology and medical imaging data to study causes and mechanisms of (proton) radiation induced brain injury
Implementation, testing and deploying of state-of-the-art methods for co-registration of the mentioned multi-modal data sets
Conception and performance of new innovative project ideas, including animal studies using precise proton radiation
Grants writing and supervision of students

PhD degree in biology, bioinformatics, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, biophysics, physics, computer science or related disciplines
Experience in programming / image analyses / data processing and/or high-throughput data analysis within the FAIR principles
Highly motivated to apply your own skills and expand your knowledge to develop innovative approaches for clinically relevant research questions
Basic knowledge in radiation oncology and related disciplines, or a desire to learn more about it
Willingness to work with animal models is a plus (respective qualifications are not mandatory and can be achieved)

The position is initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of prolongation.
