PostDoc (f/m/d) in order to build up and expand expertise on China

The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) is a foundation under public law. With over 80 employees, PRIF is currently the largest peace and conflict research institute in Germany.
In order to build up and expand expertise on China at PRIF, we are looking for
a PostDoc (m/f/d) (100%)
in salary scale E 13 TV-H, for three years (extension is desired)
(under the terms of the WissZVG).
Your responsibilities include:
Development of a research project, application for grants, and research on peace and conflict related to China;
participation in PRIF's current research program "Coercion and Peace";
maintenance and further development of the Institute's local, national and international networks.
In addition, we expect involvement in the further development of the research agenda of PRIF, willingness to cooperate on an interdisciplinary basis and to communicate research results to the political and social public as well as participation in the committees of PRIF's self-administration.
The applicant should fulfill the following requirements:
At least a very good doctorate in Sinology/Chinese studies, East Asian studies, political science or another social science;
research focus on Chinas role in international relations and/or domestic conflicts in China;
very good knowledge of the current scientific and societal debates in this topic area;
good knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative social science methods;
language skills in Mandarin/Standard Chinese.
Very good command of English, spoken and written, as well as competent handling of standard office software are prerequisites. Knowledge of German is not a prerequisite,
but it is expected that the applicant shows willingness to try to acquire German language skills within the next one to two years.
