Leibniz-Institut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP)Berlin
The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) belongs to the „Forschungsverbund Berlin e. V. (FVB)“. The FVB is an institution of eight natural sciences research institutes in Berlin funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and the association of its federal states. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz association.
The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) is a non-university academic research organisation dedicated to basic biomedical research and is located at the Research Campus Berlin Buch in close vicinity to the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine and the Charité Experimental and Clinical Research Center.
The Medicinal Chemistry group at the FMP is focused on the chemical optimization and validation of hits discovered by small molecule screening of pharmacologically relevant targets. The work environment provides access to state-of-the-art equipment and technologies for screening, in silico design, synthesis and biological testing of novel small molecule modulators.
We are looking for a

She/He works in a multi-disciplinary project in the area medicinal chemistry of cancer and aging research. The candidate will work in close collaboration with molecular biologists, biochemists and molecular modelers to design and synthesize new enzyme inhibitors based on screening hits with the final aim to improve the efficacy and selectivity of compounds. She/He will set up and evolve a systematic structure-activity-relationships (SAR) investigation through single compound synthesis or by small focused libraries using parallel synthesis. The position offers a unique opportunity for candidates who wish to apply their scientific knowledge and skills to tackle chemical biological problems spanning from basic research to fundamental industrial importance using small molecule inhibitors. The FMP provides an international, innovative and interdisciplinary work environment, with access to state of the art experimental and computational infrastructure.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in organic chemistry, chemical biology or medicinal chemistry and should have experience in synthetic organic chemistry and in particular heterocyclic chemistry.
