Post-doc Position (f/m/d) in Department of Biology
Post-doc Position in Department of Biology
(Full time, E 13 TV-L)
Reference number 2020/113. The start date is September1st, 2020. The position is available initially for 30 months.
The University of Konstanz has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and Excellence Strategy since 2007.
A post-doc position is available within a project that focuses on developing genetic transformation protocols for diatoms and dinoflagellates, and which is led by Dr. Norico Yamada and Prof. Peter G. Kroth. The goal of the project is the establishment of gene editing techniques for both, marine dinotoms (dinoflagellates possessing diatom-derived endosymbionts) and their endosymbiotic diatoms. Dinotoms are excellent model organisms to study chloroplast evolution of eukaryotes, because the endosymbiotic diatoms can be considered as early evolutionary stages of chloroplasts. In this system, the diatoms maintain almost all organelles and remain genetically independent of the host, while organelle distribution and karyokinesis are controlled by the host.
The University of Konstanz is committed to ensuring an environment that provides equal opportunities and promotes diversity as well as a good
balance between university and family life. As an equal opportunity employer, we strive to increase the number of women working in the field
advertised (https://www.uni-konstanz.de/en/equalopportunities/equal-opportunity/). Persons with disabilities are explicitly encouraged to apply.
They will be given preference if appropriately qualified (contact + 49 7531 88–4016).
