The institute (www.iegt-rostock.de), located at the University of Rostock on the Baltic Sea, is an internationally renowned institution known for field-changing mechanistic insights into metastatic cancer research and cellular reprogramming technologies. The IEGT is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and offers excellent opportunities for postdoctoral development and doctoral theses.
The IEGT appoints a postdoctoral scientist or a PhD student to work on direct re- and forward-programming of cardiac cells and stem cells by adeno- and lentiviral vector systems towards the goal of creating cardiac pacemaker cells for in vitro drug testing and in situ establishment of biological pacemakers. The projects will concentrate on the development and application of optimized viral vector-based gene and ncRNA expression- and knockout constructs, functional testing and sample preparation for omics analyses. Candidates possess a PhD or Master degree in a relevant discipline and have experience in working with mammalian cell and tissue cultures, nucleic acid and protein analysis and animal research. Post-docs and students with a background in viral vector and genome editing technology are especially encouraged to apply.
Applicants must be committed to working at a highly competitive level and be able to efficiently communicate scientific ideas, publish and present their data in academic journals and at international conferences and contribute to grant writing. The applicant for the Post-doc position has a proven publication record and experience in supervision of trainees and technical staff. Knowledge of English and German is essential.
The positions are funded third-party for three years. Salary is granted according to the standards for Life Sciences of the German Research Foundation (DFG). Salary for PhD students will be remunerated at 65% of TV-UMN. The University of Rostock is an equal opportunity employer.
