Throughout the world, health care systems face challenges that can only be handled by (further) improving the efficiency of interventions, processes and organizations. This requires optimal use of existing health care resources as well as optimal implementation of new efficient technological innovations. We are building our team and searching for an ambitious post-doctoral fellow who is able to strengthen our expertise in health economics/(early) health technology assessment (HTA). In addition, the post-doctoral fellow will expand the already existing link between the health economics/HTA department (HTSR, Health Technology & Services Research) and the operations management department (IEBIS, Industrial Engineering and Business Information Systems). Finally, the post-doctoral fellow will actively contribute to teaching bachelor and master courses in the field of health economics/HTA. You will be working in an international environment and contribute to the use of quantitative models to support decision making at clinical and policy levels and to optimize health care processes.
We particularly expect to develop cross-links with adjacent areas such as (health) systems engineering and ‘mixed modeling‘ (combining decision making on individual, organizational, and societal level) to map the consequences of technology implementation on health service delivery. Application of (medical) informatics and statistics, to leverage big data, will provide the evidence to populate such models and will provide key health care insights. Given the interests of the departments involved, we expect you to support our work in the field of imaging and diagnostics in general and modeling of personalized medicine strategies in particular.
You have a PhD in (medical) informatics, (health) economics, econometrics, industrial engineering, operations research, (bio)statistics, applied mathematics, or a similar discipline, with experience or interest in the fields of health economics and (early) HTA. Knowledge of simulation modeling techniques, such as Markov models, Discrete Event Simulation, System Dynamics, and Agent-based Modeling is an advantage, as is knowledge of statistical learning methods, such as traditional regression approaches and machine learning approaches. International experience is considered an advantage, and knowledge of the Dutch health care system is recommended.
You are a team player with strong communication skills. In addition, you have (some) experience in teaching and supervising (under)graduate students, and enjoy taking responsibility for elements of health economics or HTA undergraduate courses, for example, in the curriculum Health Sciences, Industrial Engineering and Management, and Technical Medicine.
We offer you a full-time contract of 38 hours per week spanning a period of 2 years, with a two-month probation period. Your appointment will be changed to a permanent position dependent on scientific performance. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Dutch Collective Labor Agreement for Universities (CAO). Depending on relevant background and experience, the gross monthly salary on a full time basis ranges from € 3.068,- to € 4.028,- per month. Employees are also entitled to a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
We offer excellent auxiliary terms of employment, such as professional and personal development programs; a secondary remuneration package; a dynamic environment with enthusiastic colleagues; an organization focusing on internationalization and a high degree of responsibility and independence.
