systemic functions of platelets in health and disease
The Institute of Experimental Biomedicine I, Rudolf Virchow Center/University Hospital Würzburg, Germany (chair: Prof. Dr. Bernhard Nieswandt) offers 5 PhD positions, embedded in the newly DFG-funded CRC/TR240 "Platelets – Molecular, cellular and systemic functions in health and disease".
The PhD positions will be connected to the following major research topics:
Irradiation of bone marrow and platelet biogenesis
Optogenetic approaches in platelet production
Role of the platelet cytoskeleton in platelet mechanics
Platelets as modulators of neuro-inflammation
Platelets in resolution of liver inflammation
Candidates with a Master degree in life sciences and interests in cell biology, molecular biology, biophysics, time-lapse imaging, mouse in vivo models, and advanced microscopic techniques are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates are expected to prove excellent lab skills. Good English skills are essential.
We offer the possibility to work on highly innovative projects in an excellent scientific environment and to collaborate with national and international research groups. The successful applicants will have the oppor-tunity to enroll in the ‘Graduate School of Life Sciences‘ in Würzburg – an international graduate program.
All positions open on July 1st, 2018 or later. Salary is based on TV-L (E-13, 65%). Disabled applicants will be preferentially considered in case of equivalent qualification.
