Stahl-Electronics offers a 3 year PhD position (start: approx. July 2017) aiming at the
development of state-of-the-art charge detectors, which will be used in Ion and Antimatter
The project will be carried out in close collaboration with the atomic physics group at the
nearby GSI facility, which is located in the Frankfurt Rhein-Main area.
Our company works in frontier technologies on a international level, developing applicationspecific
electronics (analog, digital) with focus on customization. Your job will comprise the
development of novel electronic sensors and related digital controls. These electronics will be
implemented by you in scientific experiments, their successful operation will allow to obtain a
PhD degree in either electrical engineering or physics.

Who can apply
The most important selection criteria are commitment to research and excellence in education,
but enthusiasm and team spirit are also essential. Further details:
Your educational background is in the area of physics and/or electrical engineering
You have experience in the development of analog electronics
You have completed a master’s degree or equivalent at the time of recruitment or will
soon have, with very good or excellenct marks.
You are in the first four years of your research career and have not yet been awarded
with a doctoral degree at the time of recruitment.
The positions are open to all nationalities. To comply with the European
Commission’s mobility rule, you shall not have resided or carried out your main
activity (work, studies) in the country of the host organization (Germany) for more
than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the recruitment date.
You have excellent proficiency in English language.
You are an enthusiastic person, like to develop your skills and bring things forward.
Working conditions and salary
Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) offer competitive and attractive salary and
Selected candidates will have a fulltime employment contract for the duration of 36
Selected candidates will receive a salary in accordance with the MSCA regulations for
early stage researchers. The basic gross salary (living allowance) is approximately €
3.000,- euro per month. A correction factor will be applied per country, therefore the
exact gross salary will be confirmed upon appointment. Please consider that the net
salary is approx. 30% lower due to taxes, social benefit premiums etc.
In addition to the living allowance, the candidate will benefit from a mobility
allowance. Selected candidates who are married or have children may qualify for an
additional family allowance of approx. € 500,- per month.
