11 PhD Positions Available
in a DFG-Funded Research Training Group
"Communication and Dynamics of Plant Cell Compartments"

The new Research Training Group (RTG) 2498 offers 11 PhD positions at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the associated Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB) Halle, beginning July 1st, 2019. The salary is in accordance with the German public service salary scale (65% E13 TV-L) for up to three years.

The RTG 2498 is a structured PhD program focusing on plant cellular processes involving more than one organelle. It comprises 11 related research projects investigating functional links of plastids, nuclei and selected other cell compartments to address the fundamental question of how plant organelles communicate and dynamically associate depending on changing cellular requirements. Detailed information on the individual research projects is available at www.rtg2498.uni-halle.de.

The RTG 2498 offers an excellent infrastructure in an international and interdisciplinary research environment. Our training program provides many opportunities for the improvement of scientific and personal skills. The participating institutions are all located at Halle‘s Weinberg Campus, the second largest science campus in East Germany, which houses most of the university‘s natural sciences as well as several research institutes and approx. 80 biotechnology companies.

Candidates should hold an excellent MSc degree (or equivalent) in biology or biochemistry; have a strong interest in organelle biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology; have excellent English language skills (written and spoken); and are motivated to work in a cooperative manner within the RTG.

Please submit your application at www.rtg2498.uni-halle.de ("Apply here") using our online form. Important: Please name your preferences of up to three PhD projects. Besides completing our online form, please also upload a single PDF file containing a motivation letter, your CV, transcript of records, academic degrees, an abstract of your master thesis, two references, and a certificate of English language proficiency.

Selection of candidates will start by April 1st 2019. For further information, please contact ingo.heilmann@biochemtech.uni-halle.de or any of the other PIs of the RTG. The RTG 2498 is supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
