Officer (m/f/d) for Technology Transfer and Project Management

The electrochemical storage and conversion of energy is one of the key technologies for the realization of the energy transition and electromobility. As a partner of the "Center for Electrochemical Energy Storage Ulm - Karlsruhe" (CELEST), one of the world's largest research platforms in this field, Ulm University is involved in various research programs, such as the DFG-funded Cluster of Excellence POLiS. Our goal: to help shape the transformation to a climate-neutral society by developing high-performance battery storage systems that are sustainable, safe and cost-effective.

The CELEST team manages joint activities of Ulm University and the other CELEST partner institutions (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg) in the field of electrochemical energy storage and conversion, and it coordinates the participation in relevant programs and collaborative projects on national and international level. Emphasis is placed on technology transfer, science communication, project acquisition and project management.

The position is fixed-term until December 31, 2025 and only under special circumstances suitable for part-time work.

The CELEST office has locations in Ulm and Karlsruhe. The place of work is Ulm. However, occasional travel between both offices will be required.

Your profile:
You received a PhD/doctorate in natural sciences or engineering (or are about to complete your degree) and gained work experience in applied research. You are a good communicator, act as a mediator bringing people together, and you are committed to your team. You are characterized by an accomplished and professional appearance, and by a structured way of working. Ideally, you already have some experience in science management, as well as in building and maintaining industry networks. Broad scientific knowledge in topics of energy storage and knowledge in third-party funding management are an advantage. Very good written and spoken German and English language skills round off your profile.

Your responsibilities:
You maintain contacts in industry and support knowledge and technology transfer by organizing workshops, industry events and other exchange formats. You will administer projects in the thematic field of POLiS and CELEST (independent project planning, project monitoring and control, project accounting). Your tasks also include the independent moderation of workshops, developing concepts for appearances at conferences and trade fairs, and the planning and realization of topic-specific events.
