The NMR facility manager will manage and operate our new high-field NMR facility.
The ICBM is an interdisciplinary research institute, for fundamental and applied marine research. The internationally renowned institute aims at understanding the function of marine environmental systems through close cooperation of the various scientific disciplines (chemistry, biology, physics, mathematical modelling) of its more than 20 research groups.
Operate and scientifically manage our new high-field NMR facility (800 MHz liquid state NMR with various cryogenic probes).
Develop new high-field NMR applications for biological and environmental samples, mainly from marine ecosystems.
Participate in national and international multidisciplinary research alliances.
Advise students, peers and visiting scientist. Teaching of undergraduate- and graduate-level courses with a moderate teaching load. Presentation of results in project meetings, international conferences and in scientific journals.
PhD (or equivalent) in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or a related discipline.
Experience with the day-to-day operation of high-field NMR spectrometers and the application of NMR to problems in natural organic matter research or structural biology. Familiarity with NMR software development and spectrometer hardware is a distinctive advantage.
Postdoctoral research experience and an international profile, e. g. through extended research stays abroad, is an advantage.
Ability for and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary, international team and to communicate with external partners.
