"Teaching of Digital Techniques: VR, AR and Digital Image Aesthetics"
at Münster School of Design (MSD)
What to expect:
In the Bachelor’s degree programme, supplementing professorial classes, you will teach the foundations and principles of design in the context of VR, AR and MR (e. g. Unity, Blender, VR Sketch, Gravity Sketch), based on sound pedagogical principles and in an interdisciplinary manner.
You will promote students’ creative skills in relation to the digital requirements of future-oriented design practice in the field of extended realities (XR).
In addition, you will supervise the testing of novel (product) design processes in the different phases: ideation & sketching, modelling, presentation through and in comparison with VR and AR.
You will support student design projects (BA & MA Design) and research projects in the field of XR, and supervise the development, expansion and organisation of an XR Lab.
In the Theory module, you will teach Foundations of Digital Aesthetics (VR, AR and MR), Media Culture Theory: Mass Media and Experience Society, and Modern Developments of Technologies in Design.
You will actively engage in university self-government.
Your background:
Your profile as a creative designer (f/m/d) is based on a degree (Master’s or equivalent degree in Design) in addition to several years of professional experience in design (or several years of working in higher education or research together with completion of a doctorate).
Your distinct teaching skills are impressive, and you already have experience in university teaching and research.
We expect you to have sound (technical) skills in the areas of digital design in VR and AR, the handling of subject-specific software and hardware, and theory teaching skills in the context of media studies.
You use the possibilities of XR technology in a wide variety of ways; e. g. designing products in virtual space is a must.
You have the ability to develop additional offerings in direct collaboration with the teaching staff, as well as the organisational skills required to run an XR Lab.
Last but not least, you have good English language skills that you use actively in your teaching.
We offer you:
Permanent employment as a Lecturer with Specific Duties with a teaching load of 12 hours per week per semester (50%), with an expected starting date of 1 April 2023.
For this responsible assignment, we offer you remuneration over and above the standard salary up to pay scale (TV-L) 12 or 13 (Master’s) with the prospect of pay scale 14 (doctorate), dependent on your personal qualifications and professional experience.
Dedicated colleagues who will assist you from the very beginning look forward to cooperating with you.
In addition, your working hours will enable you to achieve a healthy work-life balance.
You can look forward to the creative freedom to realise your ideas in a highly motivated team, and to extensive professional development opportunities.
