We are innovating university! Interdisciplinary, international and digital – these are the pillars of the University of Technology Nuremberg. The aim is to combine and interlink engineering studies with other topics of society. Besides the outlined interdisciplinary approach, the university will put its emphasis on courses in English, on digital learning as well as future-oriented research. In the medium term, the university is to provide a place for learning and personal development for up to 6,000 students – on a campus combining research, learning, and living. The project is currently one of the most important higher education projects of the Free State of Bavaria (Germany). For the expanding UTN School of Students and Young Researchers (StaRs) the University of Technology Nuremberg is looking for the following full-time position as soon as possible

Learning Technologist (m/f/d)

The future Center for Digital Learning Experience & Active Design (Digital LEAD) is integrated in StaRs and promotes faculty success by establishing a culture that combines faculty development, instructional design and support. It comprises Teaching and Learning Specialists, Instructional Designers or Learning Experience Designers, addresses the rapidly evolving role of technology in teaching and learning and aims to improve the development of learning designs and the overall efficiency and effectiveness of learning. The Center is a one-stop shop for promoting successful teaching and learning.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design and provide training and workshops for faculty
  • Develop digital learning designs as well as generate digital content
  • Develop and support courses in a learning management system (Canvas)
  • Develop and support the concept of a collaborative learning culture including digital technologies for innovative teaching and learning
  • Assisting the development and implementation of quality management processes
  • Continuously develop your knowledge of the latest research in the field of teaching and learning (e.g., instructional design, learning experience design) and high impact practices as well as latest trends of educational technologies

Ihr Profil:

  • Degree at Master’s level (or comparable), if possible with a reference to Digital Learning or Educational Technology or a comparable qualification
  • Professional experience of at least one year is of advantage
  • Very good written and spoken knowledge of the German and English (at least language level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • Expertise in the field of digital teaching/learning from a sociotechnical-pedagogical perspective
  • Knowledge of research studies, theories, approaches and practices of designing teaching and learning as well as experience in using appropriate educational technologies are of advantage
  • Ideally experience in designing courses that effectively use various technologies and practices in the digital realm as well as experience in analyzing feedback from formative and summative evaluation of courses and developing strategies for faculty to improve student learning
  • Study abroad or prior experience in an intercultural setting desired

  • A fixed-term position (2 years) up to salary rate 13 TV-L according to your personal qualifications and prerequisites; a subsequent permanent employment is possible
