Junior Research Group Leader in Immunology (m/f/d)
The Medical Faculty of the University of Freiburg is one of the most renowned faculties in Germany. The Medical Center - University of Freiburg is one of the largest tertiary care hospitals in Europe. Together, boundaries in medicine, research, and teaching are addressed every day. The Center for Chronic Immunodeficiency (CCI) is an interdisciplinary research and treatment center for immunodeficiency and one of the leading European institutions in this field.
We invite applications from outstanding young scientists to establish an independent Junior Research Group. Required qualifications include more than two and less than six years of internationally recognized post-doctoral research and a publication track record reflecting your scientific excellence.
We offer a vibrant research environment in Immunology in Freiburg with opportunities in translational human immunology at the CCI. The candidate will be provided with research space at the Center for Translational Cell Research (ZTZ), initially for 4-5 group members. Access to state-of the-art core facilities such as (spectral) flow cytometry and cell-sorting, single-cell sequencing, advanced imaging facilities is provided. The endowment will cover the own position, one PhD student or technician, and consumables. Applicants are encouraged to obtain additional third party funding.
We expect a convincing research concept that takes advantage of the unique opportunities at the CCI to use primary immunodeficiencies as a window to understand the human immune system. The candidate is expected to use the opportunity to join one of the Collaborative Research Centers coordinated by CCI members, i.e. CRC1160: IMPATH (Speaker S. Ehl) and TRR359: PILOT (Speaker P. Henneke), or the Freiburg Center of Excellence CIBSS on signaling research.
The application documents must include a letter of motivation with a clear statement of why Freiburg as a research location and the CCI as a research environment is interesting, a CV with a list of publications, a research synopsis pointing out achievements (1 page) and plans for the next 5 years (2 pages) and 2 reference letters.
