At the Faculty of Chemistry at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, in cooperation with the MBExC cluster of excellence, a junior professorship
W1 t.t. W2 - "Molecular Labeling Chemistry"
is to be filled as temporary position (BesGr. W1 NBesO) with tenure track (W2).
The appointment is initially for a period of three years. If the interim evaluation is positive, the employment contract will be extended for a further three years. The transition to a lifetime professorship without a call for applications (W2) will follow a further positive evaluation.
The Cluster of Excellence "Multiscale Bioimaging: from Molecular Machines to Networks of Excitable cells" (MBExC) is an interdisciplinary, cross-faculty research center of the University of Göttingen. It pursues a novel research approach with joint efforts in modern bioimaging, in particular photonics, molecular biosciences, neuroscience and cardiovascular research. The goal of MBExC is to decipher disease-relevant nanoscale functional units in neurons, sensory cells and cardiomyocytes to unravel fundamental biological principles at an increasing level of complexity from molecular, nanoscale to network and organ levels (https://mbexc.de/).
In cooperation with MBExC, the Faculty of Chemistry searches for a Junior Professor (W1 with tenure option W2), who is expected to perform research in the area of modern (bio)organic synthesis with the aim to develop innovative labeling strategies for the visualization of molecules in vitro and in vivo. The research focus includes the physico-chemical analysis of the synthesized molecules and their application in biomedical research. The candidate should have an outstanding track record in (bio)organic chemistry. Teaching in the area of organic and/or biomolecular chemistry is expected. The position will be located within the Institute of Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry. An interdisciplinary research environment provided by the participating institutions of MBExC will be guaranteed.
The requirements for employment are set out in § 30 of the "Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz" in its currently valid version as well as the regulations for filling junior professorships and temporary professorships as well as tenure-track professorships - "BaZ-TT-O". As a rule, applicants* who have completed their doctorate at the University of Göttingen can only be considered if they have been academically active outside the University of Göttingen for at least two years after their doctorate. If the prerequisites are met, they will be employed as civil servants on a temporary basis. The University of Göttingen has the right of appointment. Details will be explained upon request.
Applications from scientists from abroad are particularly welcome. The University of Göttingen strives to increase the proportion of women in areas where women are underrepresented and therefore strongly encourages qualified women to apply. It also sees itself as a family-friendly university and promotes the compatibility of science/profession and family. The university has set itself the goal of employing more severely disabled people. Applications from severely disabled people are given preference if they have the same qualifications.
Online applications including curriculum vitae, list of publications and details of teaching and research experience should be received by September 15th, 2020. Printed applications are accepted. Online link for applications and further information: https://www.uni-goettingen.de/en/440199.html
